Best liveaboard experience in Komodo

Diving Komodo National Park

April to September 2026

DISCOVER THE RAW BEAUTY OF KOMODO; WHERE DRAMATIC LANDSCAPES MEET SOME OF THE MOST VIBRANT MARINE LIFE IN INDONESIA.

Waking up aboard Scubaspa Zen, surrounded by Komodo’s beautiful islands, you feel like you have stepped into a world suspended between earth and sea. The early light reflects off turquoise waters, the scent of salt lingers in the air, and the soft murmure of the crew, signals another day of adventure.

As the dive dhoni pulls away, the magic begins. Below the surface: vibrant coral walls, swirling schools of fish, and powerful currents bringing in life from every direction. Manta rays swim effortlessly at cleaning stations, reef sharks cruise through the blue, and rare moments, like a turtle crossing paths or a drift dive through a narrow channel, become the stories you will tell long after you have left.

Above the waterline, Komodo’s dry ridges and savannah-covered slopes tell a different story, of ancient dragons, pink sand beaches, and islands that still feel wild. Traveling through the park by liveaboard lets you move with the rhythm of the sea, dive the most remote sites, and see the region as few others do.

This is Komodo liveaboard diving with Scubaspa Zen; immersive, peaceful, and packed with unforgettable moments.

Komodo National Park

Komodo National Park is where Jurassic vibes meet tropical paradise.

Established as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991, the park covers a string of islands between Sumbawa and Flores, and it's most famous for its namesake resident: the Komodo dragon. These giant lizards grow up to 3 meters long and are the closest thing we have to living dinosaurs. Watching them roam the sunbaked, desert-like terrain is both surreal and fascinating (don’t worry, we will be keep our distance while having a closer look).

Top Dive Sites in Komodo

Komodo is packed with dive sites that deliver big rewards.

From manta cleaning stations and swirling schools of fish to drifting with the current as reef sharks cruise by, every site brings something different. Here are some of the most iconic and sought-after spots in the park, though we are keeping our favorite spots to ourselves and for you to discover when you join us onboard Zen.

Batu Bolong

A coral-covered pinnacle teeming with life; from anthias and groupers to napoleon wrasse and reef sharks. Known for its strong currents and rich biodiversity.

Castle Rock

A drift diver’s dream with large pelagics: giant trevally, white-tip sharks, barracuda, and vibrant reef fish. Best dived at incoming tide.

Manta Alley (South Komodo)

One of Indonesia’s best manta cleaning stations. Divers and snorkelers can witness mantas in large numbers gliding through channels and loops. With a bit of luck, with the cold current, possibilities to spot a mola-mola or two in the area.

The Cauldron (a.k.a. Shotgun)

A thrilling drift through a narrow channel with powerful currents that sweep you into a bowl-shaped coral formation.

Tatawa Besar & Kecil

Bright soft coral gardens filled with turtles, sweetlips, nudibranchs, and the occasional pelagic visitor. Great for macro and wide-angle photography.
